‘Quirky, Entertaining To Bakwas’: Prabhas-Starrer ‘The Raja Saab’ Opens To Mixed Reactions

Hyderabad: Prabhas’ much-awaited horror comedy ‘The Raja Saab’, which hit theatres on Friday, opened to mixed reactions.

After watching the film, moviegoers took to social media platform X to share their reviews.

Praising the film’s entertainment value and fresh storyline, one user wrote, “#TheRajaSaab is a fun horror entertainer with grand visuals and mass moments. #Prabhas ‘s role starts with fun comedy & ends on a powerful high, brilliantly supported by #SanjayDutt. Simple story, but comedy & Climax action.”

Another viewer described the film as “Massy, quirky, and entertaining,” while adding, “Not your routine horror-comedy — this one actually feels fresh. #Prabhas carries the film with swag & punch, #SanjayDutt adds solid menace. Big scale, loud moments, full theatre fun.”

Giving the film a 3.75 out of 5 rating, a cinephile called the actor’s performance “charismatic, stylish look & compelling,” while suggesting that, “Screen time edit could make film crisper,” and labelled the film as “a grand theatrical watch.”

However, some netizens didn’t seem to be too impressed with the film.

Rating ‘The Raja Saab’ 1 out of 5 stars, one netizen wrote, “The entire film runs in slow motion… especially the second half, where nothing really makes sense. This is supposed to be a movie of India’s biggest superstar, but what we actually get is one of the biggest cinematic disappointments. A film so bad, it sets a brand-new benchmark for terrible movies.”

Another person wrote, “The Screenplay was a mess, dialogues were cringe, romantic angle felt forced.”

One comment read, “At a bloated runtime of 189 minutes, #RajaSaab proves to be an arduous watch rather than the entertainer. Despite Prabhas’s star power, the film collapses under the weight of an incoherent screenplay and lack luster direction.”

Directed by Maruthi, the film has been jointly bankrolled by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment.

The film revolves around a man searching for his missing grandfather, and gets drawn into a haunted, mysterious mansion.

The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan in pivotal roles.
