Burla: The authorities of VIMSAR (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research) here have initiated a probe following complaints of ragging against some senior students at this premier Odisha institute in Sambalpur district.
According to reports, a group of fourth year MBBS students had barged into the hostel of second year students some days ago and allegedly abused them. The next day, the second year students complained to the institute authorities.
Enraged over this, the fourth year students again intruded into the hostel for the juniors late on Wednesday night. They barged into room nos. four and six and abused the students for lodging a complaint. The senior students even allegedly thrashed some juniors while they were sleeping.
The second year students on Thursday lodged another complaint with the VIMSAR authorities.
Following this, the anti-ragging cell in the medical college has started an investigation, VIMSAR Principal, Dr Jayashree Dora informed.
