Guwahati: Rahul Gandhi may be down, but not out.
Sentenced to two years in prison in the Modi surname defamation case and disqualified as an MP last month, the Congress leader has shown no signs of changing his ways as far as attacking the BJP is concerned.
In his latest tweet, Rahul linked turncoats – who left Congress to either join BJP of form own party — to businessman Gautam Adani and his company, who have been in the news for the wrong reasons over the past two-and-a-half months.
“They hide the truth, that’s why they mislead every day! The question remains the same — who does the Rs 20,000 crore of benami money in Adani’s companies belong to?” Rahul tweeted in Hindi, along with the names of Ghulam (Nabi Azad), (Jyotiraditya) Scindia, Kiran (Reddy), Himanta (Biswa Sarma) and Anil (Antony).
In major setbacks for Congress, undivided Andhra Pradesh’s last CM Kiran Reddy and Congress veteran AK Antony’s son Anil Antony switched allegiance to the saffron party earlier this week, while Scindia, Biswa Sarma and Azad quit the grand old party earlier.
It was Rahul’s first reaction on multiple leaders leaving the Congress.
The Assam CM did not take the reference to his name kindly, and vowed to take Rahul to court.
“It was our decency to never have asked you about where you have concealed the proceeds of crime from the Bofors and National Herald Scams and how you allowed Ottavio Quattrocchi to escape the clutches of Indian justice multiple times. Anyway, we will meet in the court of law,” Biswa Sarma tweeted.
Biswa Sarma’s cabinet colleague Ashok Singhal said: “Rahul Gandhi’s usual routine… Make patently false allegations, get admonished by the court, tender an apology, lose the next election. Rinse and repeat.”
