Bhubaneswar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to reach Odisha on February 6 with the entry of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra into the state.
According to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak, Rahul Gandhi will reach Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district where he would be accorded a rousing welcome by party leaders and workers.
After entering Odisha, the Congress MP will lead the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra through parts of three organisational districts – Sundargarh, Rourkela, and Jharsuguda. Detailed programme would be announced soon, he told reporters on Wednesday.
Stating that Rahul Gandhi will tentatively arrive at Biramitrapur on February 6 night, the PCC chief said that a roadshow will be conducted in Rourkela, from Rajgangpur to Sundargarh, Gadagaon and Uttara.
Rahul is slated to have a night halt at Jharsuguda on February 7 and the next morning, he will lead the Yatra to Belpahar, Hrudaynagar, and Kanaktara before entering Chhattisgarh. All the programmes are being finalised.
Apart from Rahul Gandhi, several other prominent Congress leaders are likely to visit the state in the run up to the Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections.
After Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent visit, Rahul Gandhi’s programme is expected to boost the morale of the party leaders and workers in Odisha.
Kharge addressed the party’s Odisha Bachao Samavesh in Bhubaneswar on Monday apart from interacting with state leaders during his one-day visit to the state.
