Bhubaneswar: A detailed traffic advisory has been issued by the police in view of the visit of Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, to Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge are slated to address a rally at Baramunda Ground in Bhubaneswar during their Odisha visit.
The senior Congress leaders are scheduled to attend a number of programmes, including a high-profile road show in the state capital.
Sources said the road show to be held from Airport Square to Jaydev Vihar Square is likely to draw heavy footfall and vehicular movement. The event is expected to attract a significant crowd of party workers and supporters, which could cause major traffic congestion along key city routes.
Traffic Congestion Timings & Affected Routes:
10 am to 12 noon
Major congestion is expected along the Airport Square–Jaydev Vihar Square corridor, covering key intersections such as:
Hospital Square – AG Square – Raj Bhavan Square – Power House Square – 120 Bn Square – Shastri Nagar Square – Behera Sahi Square.
This period aligns with the road show and is expected to cause maximum disruption.
1.30 pm to 2 pm
Traffic delays are likely from Baramunda Square to Hotel Mayfair, affecting Jaydev Vihar Square and its surrounding areas.
3 pm to 3.30 pm
Congestion is likely on the stretch from Hotel Mayfair to Master Canteen Square, passing through:
Jaydev Vihar – Behera Sahi – Shastri Nagar – 120 Bn – Power House – Raj Bhavan – AG Square – PMG Square.
4 pm to 5 pm
Traffic movement may slow down between Master Canteen Square and Airport Square, via PMG Square, AG Square, and Hospital Square.
The police have advised commuters to avoid the above routes during the specified hours and take alternative roads wherever possible. Additional traffic personnel will be deployed to ensure crowd control and vehicular movement during the road show and related events.
The general public has been requested to cooperate with authorities and plan travel in advance to minimise inconvenience.
