Nabarangpur: A raid team led by Nabarangpur Tehsildar seized over 550 bags of rice meant for distribution under mid-day meals (MDM) in schools.
The rice bags were hidden under private building which was under-construction at Keshariguda under Nandahandi block of the district.
The raid was conducted on Sunday by the district officials basing on a tip-off.
Tehsildar Rabindra Rout said he accompanied local IIC reached the place where the rice bags were reportedly hidden and found the stock in two rooms.
Around 564 bags of rice were found in the rooms which were opened in presence of police, Rout added. These rice bags were seized and handed over to Additional Block Education Officer (ABEO)..
Meanwhile, investigation is on to ascertain as to how the rice bags reached the under-construction building and who is behind it.
