‘Rail Roko’ Agitation In Balangir Hits Train Services

Balangir: Train services were hit in Balangir district on Tuesday because of a “Rail Roko” agitation at Saintala railway station.

Members of the Saintala Bikash Parishad had called the agitation to press railway authorities for a halt of the Puri-Durg Intercity at Saintala. They stopped the Puri-Gandhidham Express during the protest.

Residents have been demanding stoppage of the Puri-Durg Intercity at Saintala for a long time now. “Saintala is an important place for establishing business. Many people, including businessmen and tourists, keep coming here. We have been demanding a halt for the Puri-Durg intercity here for a long time now. But despite our repeated pleas, the railway authorities have not taken any action,” said a member of the Saintala Bikash Parishad.
Saintala residents are supporting the Parishad’s agitation.
