Bhubaneswar: The Indian Railways has announced compensation for the victims of train accident near Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a tweet said, ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh would be paid to the family in case of death of a person in the train accident. A compensation of Rs 2 lakh towards grievously injured and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries would also be paid, he said.
Meanwhile, the NDRF teams have arrived at the accident spot and started the rescue operation. Vaishnaw said the Indian Air Force has also been mobilised to help the rescue teams of the Centre and state government.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also sent a six-member team of officials to help the Odisha government.
