Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the Final Location Survey (FLS) for the new line between Jajpur Keonjhar Road and Dhamra Port in Odisha.
The Railways has sanctioned Rs 2.4 crore for conducting the survey which will cover important religious and tourist destinations like Akhandalamani temple at Aradi Pitha, Navigaya at Birajakhetra and Jajpur town.
The railway line to be laid on a stretch of 96 km is expected to serve as a gateway to the industrial area of Jajpur and Dhamra port in Bhadrak.
A long-standing demand of the people of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts, the railway line will connect tourism spots of Jajpur, Kendrapada and Bhadrak districts. Besides, it will boost the economy for easy transportation of minerals from Keonjhar, finished products from the industrial belt in Jajpur and Angul districts to Dhamra port.
The proposed railway line is a part of the vision “Purvoday” of the Prime Minister. After Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed his support for the railway line, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his visit to Jajpur and Bhadrak had assured the local people of considering their demand.
