Railway Staffer In Odisha Suspended For Taking Liquor As Bribe To Book Tickets

Bhubaneswar: A reservation supervisor at ticket counter of Paradip railway station in Odisha has been suspended  for allegedly accepting bribes in the form of alcohol bottles in exchange for booking tickets for individuals, bypassing the queue.

Senior divisional commercial manager of Khurda Road Railway Division placed Himansu Sekhar Behera under suspension on Friday after a video of his went viral on social media.

One Akhaya Majumdar of Kujang alleged that Behera announced that no Tatkal tickets were available soon after opening the counter. Those standing in the queue confronted him after it was alleged that the reservation supervisor booked tickets for two individuals from outside the state. They had allegedly offered liquor to Behera and bottles were found inside the reservation counter.
