Railways Operates ‘SheshNaag’ On Indian Tracks! Know The Details Here

New Delhi: The Railways set a record by running the longest-ever train on Indian tracks.

Named ‘SheshNaag’, the 2.8 km-long goods train was operated by the South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, with 251 wagons.

The train formation was made by joining four empty BOXN (bogie open high sided) rakes, powered by four sets of electric locomotives.

Indian Railways shared pictures of SheshNaag on its official Twitter handle and wrote: “Boosting freight transportation, Indian Railways has run longest goods train ever, ‘SheshNaag’, with 4 trains combined together, totalling o 2.8 km, between Nagpur and Korba In South East Central Railway.”

On June 30, the SECR had run a 177-coach freight train named ‘Super Anaconda’. That was set up by joining 3 loaded trains (more than 15000 tonnes) in ‘Anaconda’ formation through Bilaspur and Chakradharpur divisions.
