Railways Stop 6 Puri-Bound Trains Midway For Passengers Safety

Bhubaneswar: As many as six long distance trains were controlled at various stations in Odisha as cyclone Fani made landfall around Puri and unleashed its fury.

According to a statement issued by East Coast Railway, the trains were controlled in stations such as Sambalpur, Rourkela and Titlagarh with provisions of catering facilities, watering of coaches and charging points.

The controlled trains are:

1. Durg to Puri Express at Angul. About 300 passengers are travelling in this train.

2. Purushottam Express from New Delhi at Sambalpur.

3. LTT Mumbai-Puri Express at Sambalpur since 6:50 AM.

4. Okha-Puri running on diverted route could be controlled at Titlagarh.

5. Gandhidham-Puri running on diverted route controlled at Titlagarh at 7:30 PM.

6. Nizamuddin-Puri Utkal Express controlled at Rourkela from 7 PM on Thursday.

The railways have earlier announced the cancellation of 140 trains till Saturday.
