Rain Continues To Lash Odisha, Wet Spell To Last Two More Days

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy rainfall triggered by a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal for the next two days.

According to the mid-day bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low pressure is likely to become more marked during the next 48 hours.

From 1 pm on Tuesday to 8.30 am on Wednesday: Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast for Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Angul, Sonepur, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Bargarh districts. Extremely heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Sundargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh and Nuapada, it said.

One or two places in Malkangiri, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khudha, Puri, Gajapati and Ganjam ar also likely to experience heavy rainfall.

From 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday: Heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over in Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Koraput and Rayagada districts.

Squally weather with wind speed 45 kmph is likely to prevail during this period.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast and northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hrs.
