Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warning for four districts of Odisha till 8.30 pm on Wednesday.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of Khurda, Angul, Boudh and Nayagarh districts in 3 hours. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are also likely to experience gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The MeT office had earlier issued red warning for thunderstorm/lightning accompanied with gusty wind speed reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph and moderate to intense rain at Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur till 8 pm. Similar weather conditions with gusty wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph is also likely in some parts of Bhadrak and Balasore districts during this period.
