Bhubaneswar: While Odisha is likely to experience rain and thundershower for 2 days due to westerly disturbance, winter chill is back with the night temperature plummeting to 11 degree Celsius at G Udayagiri in Kandhamal in the last 24 hours.
As many as five places recorded temperature below 15 degree Celsius last night. Besides G Udayagiri, the mercury dropped to 12.1 degree Celsius in Koraput, followed by Daringbadi (13.5), Semiliguda (14.2) and Phulbani (14.5). The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 20.3 and 20 degree Celsius, respectively, which was 1.3 and 2.1 degrees above normal, according to the regional centre here.
“Minimum temperature fell at one or two places in North Odisha, while it was appreciably above normal at a few places in Interior Odisha and elsewhere in the state.”
The weather agency has forecast no large change in the night temperature during next 4-5 days.
According to the midday bulletin, light to moderate rain/ thundershower may occur at one or two places in Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput till 8.30 am on Tuesday. Similar weather condition may prevail at one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj in the subsequent 24 hours.
Dry weather will prevail across the state thereafter, it added.
