Rain Intensity In Odisha To Fall Tomorrow; Temp To Drop By 2-4°C After 2 Days

Bhubaneswar: As the depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to weaken gradually in the next 12 hours, the intensity of rain triggered by the system will decrease gradually in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in Saturday.

It said the depression is likely to weaken and move slowly east-northeastwards maintaining its intensity as a depression. After the well-marked low-pressure intensified into depression, many parts of Odisha have been lashed by incessant rain since Friday.

As the system will lose its intensity over the sea in the next 12 hours, the intensity of rainfall is expected to subside.

As per the weather agency, Ranpur in Nayagarh district received the highest amount of rainfall in the state at 108.4 mm in the last 24 hours, while Begunia recorded 84 mm, and Khurda 75 mm during the period.

The rainfall activity across Odisha caused by depression is likely to decrease from Sunday and the cold wave condition may return.

The weather agency said light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at a few places over coastal districts and adjoining areas in Odisha in next 24 hours. The districts included Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Cuttack and Jharsuguda.

However, rainfall activity will be reduced Malkangiri, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Bargarh and Sonepur districts. Light rainfall is likely in south coastal and coastal districts such as Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati on Sunday.

The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar forecast dense fog in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput districts after the rainfall activity.

There will be no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) during next 2 days and thereafter fall by 2-4 oC during subsequent 3 days over the districts of Odisha, it added.
