Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for four districts of Odisha till around 9 pm on Sunday.
Moderate rain along with thunderstorm and lightning may occur at many places over Khordha, Nayagada, Rayagada and Puri district during the next 3 hour.
Earlier in the day, the MeT office had warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts till 8.30 am on Monday. Thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 km/h) are also expected across coastal and interior districts – Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri during this period.
While the latest spell of heavy rain, trigged by a fresh low-pressure area, has inundated several areas in Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada districts, similar weather conditions may prevail in multiple districts in the coming week. Heavy rain along thunderstorms, and gusty winds warning has been issued till August 15.
