Bhubaneswar: At least 17 districts of Odisha are likely to experience rain and thundershower on Thursday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued orange warning for seven districts. Moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and one or two intense spells of downpour may lash Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and Balasore within next three hours, it said in a message issued at 13.30 pm.
Waterlogging in low-lying area, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption may be experienced in urban areas. People have been advised to avoid movement in affected areas and do arrangement for drainage of excess water.
The weather agency also sounded yellow alert for ten districts and said light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning likely to affect some parts of districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Boudh, Keonjhar and Jajpur in next three years.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike.
