Bhubaneswar: While more showers are expected in Odisha from next week onwards under the influence of a fresh low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning for several districts, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 4.15 pm.
The districts that are likely to be affected are Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Sundagarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

The MeT office had earlier forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at a few places across the state on Sunday. Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has been sounded for the subsequent two days with heavy rain from September 13.
