Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning in some parts of Keonjhar, Jajpur, Angul and Kendrapada this afternoon.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
According to IMD’s midday bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershower may occur at many places in North Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda and at a few places in remaining parts of the state till 8.30 am on Tuesday. Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has also been sounded for one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Cuttack districts.
While the light to moderate is likely to continue in the state till August 11, thunderstorm and lightning warning has been issued for 2 more days.
On July 8, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Gajapati. The warning has been sounded for some places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj distrits during the subsequent 24 hours, the weather agency added.
