Bhubaneswar: It will continue to pour in the state with the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicting heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lighting for several districts in the next 48 hours.
Thunderstorm and lightning along with heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kalahandi districts between 4.30 pm on Thursday and 12.30 am the following day, an IMD bulletin said.
After remaining dry on Wednesday, the state capital and the neighbourhood areas too are likely to witness rain and thunderstorm. During the day, Malkangiri registered 22 mm rainfall, the highest in the state, it added.
Notably, lightning strikes have claimed 40 lives in the state in the last four days.
