Rain plays spoilsport in MCL Cup

Bhubaneswar: Thundershower spoiled two group league matches of the ongoing 29th MCL Cup Bhubaneswar Inter-School Football Tournament at Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground here on Thursday.
Sai International School was leading 1-0 in their Group-E match against Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School when heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning stalled the play with one minute to go for the half-time.
With the rain god refusing to relent, the match was finally abandoned.
As the waterlogged ground becoming unplayable, the second match of the day between Ramakrushna Sikhya Kendra and St Xavier’s High School (Khandagiri) was cancelled.
According the host Unit-VI Athletic Association secretary Dillip Kumar Das, both the matches will be played on Sunday, the reserve day.
