Bhubaneswar: Rain coupled with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to lash seven districts of Odisha on Thursday night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
State capital Bhubaneswar and neighbouring Cuttack city are also likely to be affected by thunderstorm with hail accompanied by squall wind speed reaching 40–50 kmph.
Lightning and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Bhadrak within next three hours, the weather agency said in the warning issued at 2200 hrs.
Issuing an orange warning, it said minor damage to loose / unsecured structures, banana trees. some damage to standing crops may occur under its impact.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
