Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for 23 districts in Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 9.30 pm on Tuesday.
Orange Warning
Moderate thunderstorm, lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and light to moderate rain
may affect some parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Kandhamal, Angul, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal and Nuapada districts in 3 hours.
The weather agency has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops in these districts.
Yellow Warning
Light to moderate thunderstorm accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, lightning and light to moderate rain is also likely in some parts of districts of Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda, (including Bhubaneswar), Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Gajapati, Rayagada, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Balasore and Ganjam.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
