Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 13 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Kataka and Bhubaneswar, till around 5 pm on Saturday.
Light to moderate rain and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in the districts of Kataka (including Kataka city), Nayagada, Ganjam, Kendrapada, Debagada, Puri, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar) Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri and Koraput during this period.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The warning has come even as the low pressure over western parts of Gangetic West Bengal & adjoining north Jharkhand has become less marked. The Monsoon trough is currently passing through Amritsar, Karnal, Hardoi, Ranchi, Digha and southeastwards towards Northwest Bay of Bengal, while cyclonic circulation persists over South Odisha. Under the influence of these systems, Heavy rain may continue to lash several western Odisha districts for another 3 days, the IMD added.
