Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 110districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Kataka, till 10.20 pm on Sunday.
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning may occur in the districts of Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Jajpur, Nayagada, Kataka (including Kataka city), Puri, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Boudh and Koraput in three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lighting strikes.
The MeT office has warned of intense downpour in Odisha for two days as the Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha-West Bengal coasts is expected to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 24 hours and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Island around forenoon/noon of July 27. Red warning of has been issued for nine districts on July 26-27 along with orange and yellow warnings for several parts of the state till August 1.
