Rain, Thunderstorm In Odisha For 5 Days Amid Heatwave In Some Dists; IMD Issus Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to be lashed by rain and thunderstorm accompanied by gusty surface wind during the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea; most parts of Karnataka; some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, and coastal Andhra Pradesh; most parts of West-central Bay of Bengal and more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal.

Conditions are favourable for early onset of Monsoon in south Odisha, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said in a bulletin.

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershowers may occur in some districts of the state. At the same time, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Bargarh, Balangir, and Nuapada during the period.

Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at some parts of Balangir, Boudh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts.

Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in Koraput and Malkangiri. Hot and humid weather conditions may prevail in some places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati till Friday.

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur at a few places in south Odisha, north coastal Odisha and one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and dry is weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts.

Yellow warning was issued about thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface
windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph in some places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Koraput.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

May 8

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south Odisha, north coastal Odisha, and one or two places in north interior Odisha.

Yellow warning was issued about heatwave conditions at one or two places in Bargarh, Balangir, and Nuapada.

Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph may  occur at one or two places in Deogarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

May 9

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at one or two places in south Odisha, and north coastal Odisha, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of north interior Odisha.

Yellow warning was sounded about thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Balangir, Sonepur, and Nuapada.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

May 10

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur at one or two places in south Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Deogarh.

The weather agency sounded yellow alert about heatwave conditions at one or two places in Bargarh, Balangir, and Nuapada.

Thunderstorms with lightning may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, and Deogarh. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

May 11

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur at one or two places in south Odisha and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.
