Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for four districts, including Bhubaneswar, till 6.30 pm on Monday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely in some parts of Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal and Khurda, including Bhubaneswar, in 3 hours. The weather agency had issued a similar warning for Jajpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh and Sundargarh till 6.15 pm. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
According to the midday bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is likely at isolated places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal and Angul districts till 8.30 am on Tuesday. Yellow warning of heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) has also been issued for isolated places in Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to continue during the day across the state and people have been advised to take shelter at safe places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

The orange warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall continues for Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur during the subsequent 24 hours. Heavy rain may also lash isolated places in Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Sambalpur.
The intensity of rain is expected to decrease in the state thereafter with heavy rain warning for next two days.
