Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for five districts of Odisha, including Cuttack city, till 11.30 pm on Thursday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely to affect some parts of Cuttack, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh and Khurda in next three hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The weather agency had earlier forecast thunderstorm with lightning is likely at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts till 8.30 am on Friday. Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and at one or two places in remaining districts of the state.
The intensity of rain will gradually increase thereafter with orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain from October 1.
