Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for nine districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till 6 pm on Sunday.
Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning is likely in some parts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh and Khurda in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The Met office had earlier issued similar warning for Koraput, Malkangiri, Balangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Cuttack, including Cuttack city, till 5 pm.
Notably, yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has been issued for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh and Angul districts till 8.30 am on Monday. Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at many places in North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh and at a few places in rest of the state.
Odisha is likely to experience heavy rainfall from August 15.
