Rain, Thunderstorm & Gusty Wind To Bring Down Temp In Odisha; No Respite Yet For 6 Districts

Bhubaneswar: The daytime temperature in Odisha is likely to fall by 2-3°C in the next 3 days under the influence of Nor’wester, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.

The mercury, however, will soar over 40°C and remain 2 to 3°C above normal in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir and Boudh during his period.

Earlier in the day, the MeT office had said that several places in interior Odisha are likely to witness a slight drop in the daytime temperature with Nor’wester becoming active from Sunday. While moisture-laden air from the sea has started moving into Odisha from the south, southeast direction, the process of formation of Nor’wester will get expedited when water vapours and wind from above the sea will come in contact with the hot atmosphere. Some districts are expected to experience lightning, thunder and squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, it added.
