Rain, Thunderstorm To Continue In Odisha Till March 25, Temp To Rise Again By 2-4 °C After 2 Days

Bhubaneswar: Rain coupled with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty wind is likely to lash several parts of Odisha during the next three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

In its midday bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may occur at few places of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, and Sundargarh districts in the next 24 hours.

Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar during the period.
An orange warning was issued by the weather agency for all these districts in view of the expected weather conditions.

Similarly, a yellow warning was issued about thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri in 24 hours.

Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur

On March 23-24, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. A yellow warning was issued for these districts.

On March 24-25, the weather agency issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning in the afternoon at one or two places of Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati .

People are advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Also harvesting of crops may be regulated judicially and farmers are advised to use hail nets to protect vegetables and crops from hail.

No large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) is expected for next 2 days. Thereafter, day temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 °C in the state. Minimum Temperature is also likely to rise by 2-4 °C after two days.
