Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 10 districts in Odisha, including state capital Bhubaneswar, till around 5 pm on Saturday.
Thunderstorm with lightning, light to moderate rain and wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur at one or two places in the district o
f Angul, Sonepur, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Puri, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Gajapati during the next three hours
People have advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from thunderstorm
and lightning strikes.
According to the midday bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati on Saturday. Similar weather condition with wind speed of 40-50 kmph may also prevail in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh.
There is also a warning for heavy rainfall at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
