Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for nine districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 8 pm on Thursday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely in some parts of Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Jharsuguda and Deogarh in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) may occur at one or two places in Sundargarh and Jharsuguda till 8.30 am on Friday. Yellow warning of heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) has also been issued for one or two places in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
The intensity of rain may gradually decrease thereafter.
