Bhubaneswar: While heatwave is likely to persist in some parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecast thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph in several districts for at least 2 days.
The MeT office has issued orange warning for thunderstorm accompanied by gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, lightning, hail and light to moderate rain in some parts of Gajapati and Ganjam districts till 6.30 pm.
Some parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts are likely to witness rainfall activity till Sunday morning.
Most parts of the state are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall till June 1.
Several parts of the state have been experiencing intense heat and thunderstorm activities for the past couple of days. The MeT office forecast that there will be no large change in the maximum temperature over the districts of Odisha.
The maximum temperature is likely to be around 42 degree Celsius at one or two places over the districts ofiInterior Odisha during next five days.
