Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD0 has issued yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning for 19 districts of Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 7.15 pm on Friday.
The districts that are likely to be affected are Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Bargarh, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack and Khurda.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Odisha has been witnessing a weak monsoon, leading to a rise in the humidity level in coastal area, which the MeT office said would continue for another 48 hours. Heavy rain may lash the state for four days from September 2 with the likely formation of a cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal around September 3 and it probable intensification into a low pressure area during subsequent 48 hours.
