Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended the rain and thunderstorm warning for twin cities of Odisha – Bhubaneswar and Cuttack – till 4.30 pm on Monday.
Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning is also likely in some parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Balangir, Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the IMD has issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal till 8.30 am on Tuesday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at a few places across the state, it added.
