Bhubaneswar: While light to moderate rain may continue in Odisha for three days with dry weather prevailing thereafter, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast a fresh depression over Bay of Bengal around November 27.
“A cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around November 27. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around 26th November. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Andaman Sea around November 27.”
This forecast comes five days after Bay of Bengal witnessed a cyclonic storm named ‘Midhili’, which crossed Bangladesh coast on November 17 afternoon. The cyclonic storm was also expected to bring heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal and some parts of Odisha but no major impact was felt in these areas. As a precautionary measure, Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) had put all the district collectors on alert.
