Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm activity is likely in the state capital Bhubaneswar by 5 pm on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather agency has also issued an orange warning of moderate rain and thunderstorm for Jagatsinghpur, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj till 5.48 pm. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, heavy rain may also resume in at one or two places in the districts of Jajpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Baragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh and Kandhamala on August 2. There is also a warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Baragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.
