Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning for several parts of Odisha, from July 2.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning may affect some places in Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Nayagarh, Balasore and Keonjhar districts till 5.50 pm. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places protect themselves from lightning strikes, the MeT office further said.
Light to moderate rain is also likely at a few places in the state for next two days, it added.
JULY 2
Yellow Warning
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal.
There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places in South Coastal Odisha, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal and at a few places in remaining parts of the state.
JULY 3
Yellow Warning
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal.
There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and at a few places in rest districts of Odisha.
