Rainfall In Odisha From Today, To Continue Till Sunday

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a three-day yellow warning for rain and thundershower with lightning and gusty surface wind in the northern, southern and interior districts of Odisha.

The duty officer of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Amin Sardar, said rainfall will begin from Tuesday and continue till Sunday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.

He said there will be light to moderate rain or thundershowers at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Nuapada and Bargarh on Tuesday, a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada on Wednesday and at many places over northern Odisha districts on Thursday and a few places over the southern Odisha on Friday.

Sardar also said that the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph over the following districts.

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and thunderstorm with lightning in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Khurda districts.

(March 5)
Yellow warning

Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Cuttack.

(March 6)
Yellow warning

Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Dhenkanal.

The weather will improve from March 9 (Monday) onwards after sporadic rainfall at some places in Odisha on March 7 and 8 (Saturday and Sunday), he added.

Meanwhile, the maximum day temperature recorded in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Tuesday was highest in Malkangiri with 35 degree Celsius while the temperature remained over 30 degrees in Balasore (32.8), Chandbali (33.2), Cuttack (33.4), Bhubaneswar (33.6), Gopalpur (30.2), Puri (30.6), Angul (32.7), Baripada (33.5), Jharsuguda (32.1), Keonjhar (31.3), Sambalpur (32.8), Sundargarh (32), Hirakud (32.3), Talcher (33.3), Bhawanipatna (32.8), Balangir (33), Titlagarh (34), Sonepur (32.8), Nayagarh (32), Boudh (33), Chhatrapur (30.5), Paralakhemundi (30.5) and Rayagada (33.2).

Besides, the night temperature also went up above 15 degree Celsius in the above mentioned areas except for Daringbadi (13), Sonepur (14.8), Rayagada (14), Titlagarh (14.6) and Sundargarh (13.5).
