Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience an increase in the intensity of rain on Sunday, coinciding with the festivals of Kumar Purnima and Laxmi Puja.
According to the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), some places in South coastal Odisha may experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. Rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning is also likely in coastal districts of the state, it added.
This morning, the Met office issued a nowcast warning for Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack City), Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Balasore and Nayagarh till 8.25 am.
Notably, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been sounded in Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri districts on Sunday while thunderstorm with lighting is likely in some parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Angul, Koraput and Malkangiri districts during this period.
No warning has been issued for the next three days till October 12. However, light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur in many places over several districts.
