Rainfall To Bring Down Scorching Heat In Odisha From Thursday: IMD

Bhubaneswar: While the intense heat wave continues to scorch interior Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the average maximum temperature in the state will come down as rainfall activity begins in the next 24 hours.

“The trough from south Chhattisgarh, running from Rayalaseema to interior Tamil Nadu, will be active in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, the rainfall activity will begin from May 28 and continue till June 1,” the IMD said in a bulletin on Wednesday.

The maximum temperature recorded till 5.30 pm on Wednesday was 43.7 degree Celsius in Angul. In 13 other places, mercury soared above 40 degrees — Jharsuguda (42.2), Sambalpur (42.6), Sundargarh (40), Hirakud (42.5), Talcher (42.5), Bhawanipatna (42), Balangir (42.5), Phulbani (40.4), Titlagarh (43), Malkangiri (41), Sonepur (42.4), Boudh (42.8) and Paralakhemundi (40).
