Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that the day temperature in most parts of coastal Odisha will come down appreciably in the next 12 hours.
“The trough from north Jharkhand to south coastal Karnataka across Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and north interior Karnataka now runs from the cyclonic circulation over north-east Assam and neighbourhood to south-east Madhya Pradesh across northern parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh. Under its influence, the rainfall activity in Odisha will increase and continue for four days till April 22,” the IMD said in a mid-day bulletin.
Going by the modular study, IMD has issued yellow and orange warning at one or two places over the following districts.
April 19

Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph over the districts of Balangir, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Ganjam, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh.
April 20
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph over the districts Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.
April 21
(Orange warning)
Thunder squall speed reaching 45-55 kmph accompanied with hail over the districts Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Balangir and Keonjhar..
Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph over the districts Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kalahandi.
April 22

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph over the districts Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsingpur, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Meanwhile, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours in the state till Sunday morning was highest in Phulbani at 31 mm followed by Cuttack (28), Balasore (20.4), Paradip (19.2), Angul (16.2), Baripada (15.2) and Chhatrapur (10).
