Mumbai: Businessman Raj Kundra was on Wednesday granted interim relief by Bombay High Court in a 2020 case filed by Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Cell.
The husband of actress Shilpa Shetty was arrested by Mumbai Police on July 19 on charges of production and distribution of pornographic films through apps.
Cyber police had registered an FIR last year against various platforms, which they alleged were involved in showcasing pornographic content.
His lawyer Prashant Patil argued that since the other co-accused in the case are already out on bail, Kundra deserved protection from arrest.
Justice S.K. Shinde allowed an interim order preventing Kundra’s arrest till August 25, which was fixed as date of next hearing.
Kundra had earlier sought anticipatory bail in the FIR lodged by Cyber Crime, claiming that he was falsely implicated. He also contended that there is no evidence to link him with the HotShot app.
However, Kundra was arrested a month ago after a similar complaint was registered by the Crime Branch.
