Puri: A devotee from Rajasthan died after he fell sick during a visit to Shree Janagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri on the occasion of Snana Purnima.
The deceased has been identified as Ambalal, who had come to the pilgrim town with family from Rajasthan.
Sources said the devotee fell sick when he was inside the 12th century shrine for darshan of the deities. He reportedly complained of chest pain and difficulty in breathing.
Security personnel present at the site swung into action and the devotee was initially given treatment at the first aid centre near the Singhadwar.
The devotee was rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in an ambulance after his condition deteriorated. However, he was later declared dead by the doctors.
The exact reason behind the death of the devotee is yet to be ascertained.
