Jaipur: Rebel Congress leader Sachin Pilot is still in touch with the Congress leadership, especially general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Pilot had moved Rajasthan High Court challenging his and 18 of his loyalist MLAs’ disqualification process in the state.
Congress sources confirmed that Pilot had a discussion with Priyanka though the details of the conversation could not be confirmed. Priyanka, it is learnt, is also open to meet Pilot for further discussion.
With Congress preparing its Plan B by the Ashok Gehlot camp, all eyes will on the High Court where the hearing of Pilot’s petition will resume on Monday.
A floor test to expose the dissident MLAs also cannot be ruled out but the next move for the Congress party would be decided depending on what happens in the court on Monday.
As per calculation in the BJP camp, Pilot has the support of 21 MLAs, including the 19 Congress rebels and two Independents — Om Prakash Hudla (Mahuwa) and Suresh Tak (Kishangarh). BJP has 72 MLAs and three of ally RLP. This takes the saffron party’s number to 96 in the 200-member Assembly.
