Kolkata: The much-anticipated biopic on former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly is set to be a reality.
A 15-day schedule has started in Kolkata, with director Vikramaditya Motwane and the production team filming scenes at multiple locations linked to Sourav’s life and cricketing journey.
Rajkummar Rao, who plays Sourav in the film titled ‘Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story’, arrived in Kolkata earlier this week and was spotted taking part in shooting at the East Bengal ground on Thursday.
Rajkummar donned a red T-shirt and has a clean-shaven look as he portrays the early part of Sourav’s remarkable journey which he started from Behala and Kolkata’s iconic Maidan club grounds,
Elaborate sets have been erected at the East Bengal Club premises, with elaborate security arrangements around the ground.

Earlier in the week, there were shooting sessions at Sourav’s residence in Behala, in southwestern Kolkata.
The filmmakers will have a substantial stint at the renowned Eden Gardens, where the Kolkata Knight Riders have completed their engagements in IPL 2026.
Scenes have also been planned at the Dukhiram Cricket Coaching Centre at the Aryan Club, which shares a ground with East Bengal Club.
Sourav, who served as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president post retirement and now heads his home association (Cricket Association of Bengal), trained at the famous Dukhiram Cricket Coaching Centre during his formative years in the mid-1980s.
Tanya Maniktala has been cast as Sourav’s wife, Dona Ganguly.
A number of actors from Bengal have been roped in for the project to infuse an authentic Bengali flavour in the film. Aparajita Auddy plays Sourav’s mother, Nirupa Ganguly, and Saswata Chatterjee will be seen as his father, Chandi Ganguly.
Class VII student Srija Bhattacharya will play young Dona in the film as the film is expected to explore the romantic phase of Sourav and Dona’s relationship from a young age.
