New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will dedicate 75 infrastructure projects worth Rs 2236 crore to the nation on October 12. These projects include roads and bridges that will boost mobility and logistics for the deployment of security forces in the forward areas. Singh will be on a trip to Sikkim on October 11-12, where he will open the Kupup-Sherathang road.
The Defence Minister will address the Army Commanders’ conference in Gangtok on October 11 and spend Dussehra with the soldiers of the frontiers in Sikkim.
He will inaugurate 51 bridges, 22 roads, and two other projects during his visit. These infrastructure projects have been constructed by the BRO under challenging conditions. With the commissioning of these projects, the number of projects successfully constructed by BRO increases to 111 worth Rs 3751 crore.
He will inaugurate the remaining 74 projects virtually. These projects lie in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Nagaland, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a Hindustan Times report based on information provided by sources said.
India’s infrastructure push in the forward areas follows China’s aggressive infrastructure building along their side of the line of actual control (LAC).
