Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Police, CRPF and Army personnel have launched a massive manhunt for two terrorists involved in Sunday’s deadly New Year Day terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district which left four civilians dead and six others injured.
The incident took place around 7 pm, when the gunmen made their way through the forests, and barged into three houses of Hindu community, India Today reported.
The militants reportedly confirmed the identity of victims through their Aadhar cards and opened fire on the helpless residents.
“As per information received, two terrorists targeted three houses in Upper Dangri area. Four casualties were reported. The search operation is on. Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Army troops have cordoned off the area. We will try to neutralise the two terrorists soon,” said Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone.
“The firing went on for 10 minutes. First, they attacked a house in Upper Dangri and then moved 25 metres away and shot several people there. They also fired at another house 25 metres away from the second house while fleeing the village,” an official said.
Ten people were hit by bullets, of whom three of them were declared brought dead at the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital, Rajouri.
Another critically civilian succumbed to injuries while he was being airlifted to Jammu, along with two injured persons.
The deceased have been identified as Satish Kumar (45), Deepak Kumar (23), Pritam Lal (57) and Shishu Pal (32).
